I just bought seven of these. I love the M-16/M-4 versions and have patiently waited for an offering for the Kalashnikov. They feature a removable floorplate, constant curve geometry, and high-reliability/low-friction follower for the performance you expect from a PMAG. Upon initial inspection they appear to be quality gear, however I am a little suspect that the magazine locking tab is not steel. This is always a weak point on polymer Kalashnikov magazines. According to the internet rumor mill the next generation of the magazine will have steel reinforced feed lips and tab.
I have run 120 round through one of the magazines and it functioned flawlessly. I do not see any reason that you can’t trust you life to these magazines, except that if you drop the rifle just right you could break off the locking tab (as seen in the videos below). They should make perfect range magazines, but again I see the plastic tab as being the weak point as constant locking and unlocking into a rifle may wear out or break off the tab.
If you have to have one, then by all means go out and get yourself one. My advise would be to wait until the v2.o is released, see how they rate with the armchair internet commandos, and only then go out and buy a bunch. Currently they are only available for 7.62×39 mm rifles. I haven’t heard any rumors about a 5.45x39mm version, but if Magpul is smart they will build it.
